Linux System Administrator - Linux Operations Engineer - Linux/RHEL/CentOS -Tomcat - London - Permanent
Montreal Associates are urgently searching for a Linux System Administrator for a Permanent position based in London, this position is to start ASAP.
Key Skills are: Linux -
RHEL/CentOS preferable and Tomcat.
The Linux Administrator tasks are:
Plan and support LINUX and Open source software based web systems and databases in use for internet services.
Provide "hands on" 3rd level support for operational problems and issues referred by the Technical Services and other technical support teams.
Control and prioritisation of workload and resources, ensuring that problems and service requests are managed through to resolution within agreed service levels.
Development and maintenance of operationally robust and secure infrastructure.
Development and maintenance of ad hoc applications/interfaces to support existing 3rd party systems.
Manage technical projects, external resources and 3rd party suppliers as appropriate.
Dimensions:
The role is within the Global Technical Operations team, part of UK Technology function which supports the client globally.
Technical support for LINUX, APACHE, SENDMAIL, TOMCAT, NAGIOS and other application for all internet services.
Technical support for MySQL and PostgreSQL database applications
Skills - knowledge:
Strong practical knowledge of the Linux operating system.
Experience to work on complex Corporate Infrastructure.
Extensive knowledge of internet services systems and applications.
Knowledge to compile and install various packages/software to minimize security risks, to achieve desired functionality.
Knowledge of industry best practices and ability to implement them.
Knowledge of basic shell scripting, perl and python would be beneficial.
Database Administration of MySQL including replication and backups.
Knowledge of AMANDA backup system.
Knowledge of Citrix/XEN Virtualization.
Knowledge to deploy IPTABLES firewall on individual servers to isolate communication based of services offered by particular server.
Knowledge of NAGIOS Monitoring and Reporting System.
Knowledge to install and configure Apache webserver to setup virtual hosts with various feature like WebDAV, mod_ssl, mod_gzip, mod_php etc..
Good knowledge of Email servers like SENDMAIL or POSTFIX
Knowledge to setup high availability WEB, EMAIL, NFS and DATABASE clusters using heartbeat, ldirectord and DRBD.
Knowledge to install and configure OpenLDAP.
